HOW DOES IT WORK?
Attendees of the Relationship Skills Training Retreat will not be asked to delve
into their childhood wounds. This retreat is not psychotherapy. Instead, we provide
a safe and structured environment in which to practice building communication
skills: collaborative dialogue, shared decision making, safely expressing and
receiving anger, and conflict resolution. Each skill is broken into smaller steps,
and practiced. Participants are encouraged to experiment with various exercises
and games privately, as well as in the small group, if desired.
The retreat environment creates an engaging place for couples to practice the
skills, without asking them to disclose personal information. Handouts and readings
concerning intimacy will be supplied.
Riding resiliently through vulnerable times within an intimate relationship, requires commitment. Sharpening these skills requires study, experimentation, learning from mistakes, and most importantly, enjoying successes. When you decide to invest your energy
in acquiring this knowledge, you will experience the ultimate reward - a strong
relationship complete with mutual well-being, enduring respect, and joyful love.
